2003 dubstep documentary ‘The New Step’ from BBC

Music magazine Dummy has uploaded to its SoundCloud a 2003 BBC Radio documentary on the emerging genre of dubstep entitled “The New Step.”

The feature was produced for BBC Radio 1 by Rowan Collinson from “Somethin’ Else” and features commentary from Benga.

Manuel De La Mare clubs around the world

It’s been a big year for Italian producer/remixer Manuel De La Mare.

It all started off back in March when De La Mare was named “Top Remixer” at the 2011 Beatport Music Awards.

In August he released the mix compilation “Club Around The World” on Tiger Records.

Yesterday he released “Snapshot” with Mark Knight and is currently living up to his compilation title with performances from the U.S. to China.

Google Trends shows popularity of electronic dance genres

The graphs below, courtesy of Google Trends, illustrate the amount of Google searches for popular electronic dance music genres.

When in “relative mode” (as shown below), Google describes Search Volume index as “the average search traffic for your term (represented as 1.0) during the time period you’ve selected.” Therefore, the figures along the y-axis show the spike in traffic times the average search traffic over the given time period (2004 – 24 April 2011).

News reference volume depicts the number of times a topic appeared in Google News stories.

Summer music festivals in America 2011

Summer’s almost here, and you know what that means: it’s festival time.

The club can be fun, but it’s always nice for a little change of pace. And what better an environment than a sunny day outside surrounded by thousands of other party-goers to enjoy drinks, music and all of the festivities?
