Movement Electronic Music Festival 2011 pictures

The Movement Electronic Music Festival is approaching its final  hours this Memorial Day evening in Detroit’s Hart Plaza.

The 3-day event is a staple of American summer music festivals and features performances from legends like Richie Hawtin, Carl Craig, Sven Vath and Green Velvet.

With Paul Kalkbrenner, Adam Beyer, and Fatboy Slim preparing to close out the night at their respective stages in about an hour, some beautiful weather created the perfect setting for the party this weekend. Check out the action below.

As you probably already know, tickets can be expensive. They’re known to raise in price as time goes by, so act fast. Before you do though, check out this list of the five hottest American dance music festivals this summer.

Spain’s Sonar Festival Comes to Chicago

After a successful run last year in the U.S., the Spanish Sonar Festival comes to Chicago this September for a free, three-day-long, multi-location extravaganza.

Thursday September 9th at Millennium Park’s Jay Pritzker Pavilion and then at the Chicago Cultural Center on the 10th and 11th, Chicagoans will be extended the opportunity to experience the internationally-acclaimed Sonar Fest. The Sonar Fest has brought some of the most-forward thinking experimental performances to audiences across the globe since its premiere in Barcelona, Spain back in 1994.

One act to look out for at Sonar Chicago is L.A.’s, Nosaj Thing. Fresh off his debut album “Drift,” Nosaj Thing will be dropping a fully-captivating audio/visual performance on the fest’s second night.

Nosaj Thing has remixed for The XX, Radiohead and Charlotte Gainsbourg
